Wildlife Vaasafestivaali lähtee elokuvakiertueelle

wolverines_hyenas_of_the_north

Luontoelokuvafestivaali Wildlife Vaasa lähtee tänä vuonna elokuvakiertueelle ympäri Suomen. Suomi 100 –juhlavuoden ohjelmistoon kuuluvan kiertueen aloitustapahtuma järjestetään pe-la 27.–28.1. kulttuuritalo Fannyssa Vaasassa. Luontoelokuvia esitetään non stop –periaatteella perjantaina klo 10-20 ja lauantaina klo 13-19. Tapahtumaan on vapaa pääsy. Katso ohjelma

Itse festivaali järjestetään kahden vuoden välein, eli seuraavan kerran syksyllä 2018. Tänä välivuonna festivaali osallistuu Suomi 100 –juhlavuoteen teemalla:

Suomi ja suomalainen luonto ulkopuolisin silmin.

SuomiFinland100-banneri sininen RGB 790x444

Ympäri Suomen esitettävässä elokuvasarjassa Suomen metsien puhdas ja monipuolinen luonto nähdään ulkomaalaisten elokuvantekijöiden silmin. Tarkoituksena on näyttää, miten ulkopuolinen näkee maamme luonnon rikkauden. Osa elokuvasarjasta on tarkoitus myös esittää erikseen Vaasan alueen koululaisille, maahanmuuttajille sekä muille kiinnostuneille kohderyhmille.

Kesällä Kiinaan

Vuoden 2017 aikana aiomme viedä kyseisiä elokuvia myös ulkomailla eri elokuvafestivaaleille. Esimerkiksi heinäkuussa elokuvasarja esitetään Shanghaissa yhteistyössä China’s International Animal and Nature Film Festival –tapahtuman kanssa

Kuva: "Making an ancient forest - Kalkalpen", Science Vision Film Production, Rita Schlamberger, Michael Schlamberger

Kansainvälinen tuomaristo on valinnut Wildlife Vaasa –festivaalin luontoelokuvakilpailun voittajat. Luonnonhistoriallisen sarjan ja samalla koko kilpailun voitti Rita ja Michael Schlambergerin Making an ancient forest – Kalkalpen. Elokuvassa matkustetaan syrjäisiin metsiin Kalkalpenin kansallispuistoon Itävallassa, suurimpaan erämaahan Alppien alueella. Toiseksi sarjassa tuli Yellowstonen kansallispuistosta kertova elokuva ja kolmanneksi elokuva Amur-joesta.

Suomalaisista elokuvista parhaiten sijoittui Marko Röhrin Järven tarina, joka voitti Pohjoismaisten elokuvien sarjan. Sarjan muutkin palkitut elokuvat olivat suomalaisten tekemiä. Toisen palkinnon sarjassa sai Petteri Saarion Erämaan lumo –sarjaan kuuluva Oulanka ja Paanajärvi: Luonnon parantava voima. Kolmanneksi sijoittui Päivi Kapiainen-Heiskasen elokuva Porot kuuluvat tuulelle.

Järjestäjätahona on vuoteen 2015 asti toiminut Pohjanmaan museo/ Terranova.

Tervetuloa!

Media education: Joel Lenlund-"Korsnäs levande legend" film premier in Korsnäs

Wildlife Vaasa festival’s media education project concluded last by celebrating at the Korsnäs library the premier of the film“Joel Lenlund-The Living Legend of Korsnäs” This 58 min long biographic documentary tells the story of 93-years old Joel Lenlund, who speaks about life in the past in the region, when the sea, fishing and seal hunting played an important role in peoples life and well-being. Moreover, it was the sea that took the life of his grandfather more than a century ago while he was fishing at the archipelago but it’s also the sea that became Joel´s favorite place on Earth given him adventures, enjoyment and sustenance in his life as he claims his good health derives from spending so much time out in the sea. The film was premiered on Monday March 31st at 19.00 at a full house venue with Joel present and celebrating his wife’s Verna's 90-years old birthday. Above a "family" photo of the film team (from the left to the right) Ilias Missyris, Verna Lenlund, Joel Lenlund, Carita Nyström and Vesa Heinonen.
